Another series of police raids targeted pot dispensaries on Thursday, about a month after search warrants were executed at over 40 locations.
Last month, 90 people were arrested, including the employees of some of these dispensaries.
Police say four locations were hit in the most recent operation.
3 Canna Clinic locations at 44 Kensington Avenue, 2352 Yonge Street, 793 Dundas Street West and Cannabis Culture at 801 Queen Street West were all targetted.
Police say 23 people were arrested in the latest raid and they are now facing drug and/or proceeds related charges.
It is alleged that $289,076 worth of products was seized including cannabis marijuana, hashish, and hash oil. They also seized $29,538 worth of proceeds.
Enforcement of marijuana storefronts continues to be a joint effort between the Toronto Police Service and the City of Toronto Municipal Licensing and Standards.
“I have never minced my words on this so this is no shock to anybody. I said that the investigation would continue and this is a result of what I said. We’re going to continue. If you have dispensaries and they are open, your chances of going to court, and being charged, and being convicted, are very high. I strongly recommend that you stop selling marijuana in dispensaries right now because they are all unlawful.” – Police Chief Mark Saunders
