Ten years after the provincial government banned pit bull breeding, the government has no idea whether it reduced the number of pit bull attacks, because there has never been accurate record keeping—even before the ban—regarding frequency and breed of dog responsible for the attack. They did not have stats before the ban was put in place as well. It was largely based on emotion.
Was the ban the right call? Is it the owners’ faults when pit bulls attack or is it in their nature to kill?
