High-Occupancy Toll Lanes will be opening on the Queen Elizabeth Way starting September. The lanes will be free for those who have two or more occupants in their vehicle, however 1,000 applicants will be able to pay $180 for three-months access to the lanes. The 1,000 will be chosen in a draw from all applicants to Service Canada.
This is part of a pilot project which the government hopes to expand. The current lanes will run between Trafalgar Road in Oakville and Guelph Line in Burlington.
Are these lanes a good idea? Would you pay for one of these permits?
