A new bylaw means Peterborough pet owners can no longer let Mr. Bojangles roam free.
The city passed a bylaw Monday that bans cats from wandering off an owner’s property unless they are leashed. Peterborough’s solicitor argued that cats can damage neighbour’s gardens, howl at night and do great harm to the local song bird population.
Cats will also need to be licensed.
Your cat does its business in a park, or on somebody’s lawn? You’ll have to stoop and scoop, just like a dog owner!
Included in this bylaw is a ban on chickens as pets in residential areas, and new powers for animal control that allow them to put a muzzle order on dogs that they think have the potential to bite.
