Ilona Dougherty, co-lead of the Youth and Innovation Research Project at the University of Waterloo says that millennials seem to be delaying not only moving out of their parent’s home, but also many traditional milestones of adulthood, i.e; marriage, having kids, and buying their own home.
There are many factors that have impacted this trend, from longer time spent on education, economics, the changing job industry, and even better parent-child relationships. Dougherty thinks the changes we are seeing, are in fact a good thing in the long run.
Is this a negative trend? Or perhaps a result of a progressing society?
Tasha speaks with Ilona to give us some insight on the trend, as well as some listeners who share their experiences and thoughts on the matter.
