Authorities in Orlando, Florida, are searching for a 2 year old boy who was dragged into the water by an alligator.
It happened around 9:15 on Tuesday night at the Seven Seas Lagoon near Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.
The child from Nebraska was playing at the edge of the water in a “no swimming” area while his family sat nearby on the sandy beach.
The father tried to pry his son out of the gator’s jaws but was unsuccessful.
The alligator was estimated to be between 4 and 7 feet long.
A spokesperson from Disney says everyone at the resort is devastated.
Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Jeff Williamson spoke at a Wednesday morning news conference.
He said it’s still being considered a search and rescue operation and they are hoping for the best.
