Dane Rusk is out $178 total after a Regina cop posing as a panhandler nailed him with a traffic ticket Wednesday.
Rusk was leaving a Regina mall when he spotted what appeared to be a panhandler on the side of the road. Feeling sorry for the man, the motorist undid his seat belt so he could lean out of the window to donate $3 in change.
What did Rusk get for his act of kindness? A fine for not wearing a seat belt!
The panhandler was an undercover cop, who ended up handing the generous driver a $175 ticket.
Regina police defends the “sting” as part of the city’s crackdown on traffic violations at intersections.
Rusk never did get his $3 back.
