A man has suffered what have been described as critical injuries after he was struck by a freight train near Brampton GO station on Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called to the scene in the Mill and Railroad streets area at around 4:30 p.m.
The 32 year old victim was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins has confirmed that as a result of the incident, westbound trains on the Kitchener line will only be able to travel as far as Bramalea Station which shuttle buses brought in to take passengers further west.
It’s thought that service will be affected for a number of hours.
