Madison Arseneault, 14, was running with her gym class at the Ford Test Track Park on May 25 at 9 a.m when she tripped and landed on a sawed-off golf club that was sticking out of the ground. Workers for the park were said to be making long chalk lines on the ground by connecting the altered golf clubs with wire. Areseneault remains in critical condition after emergency surgery, and may be left paralyzed from the incident.
Windsor Parks and Recreation Department has stated the clubs had no clear signs marking them, and were left unattended. The department will be making changes following the ministry’s recommendations.
How was this work allowed? And how should this be handled by the city?
