A six-year-old girl lost a tooth after police say a woman picked her up by the hair and slammed to the ground in a series of unprovoked attacks inside a Toronto-area Walmart on Sunday.
Halton Regional Police say the woman entered the Walmart Supercentre in Georgetown on Guelph Street around 6:45 p.m. when the assault took place.
Sgt. Barry Malciw said the child was with her parents at the time.
“Any time somebody’s personal safety is put at risk we take it very seriously,” Malciw told Global News.
Police say the woman proceeded to attack three more adults and another eight-year-old child.
A Walmart employee called 911 and officers managed to arrest the attacker at the scene.
The accused has been identified as 39-year-old Jennifer Young Rattry of Georgetown.
She has been charged with one count of bodily harm and four counts of assault.
Rattry is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
