Justin Trudeau is leading the charge in trying to convince the G7 leaders to adopt a position that none of the G7 countries will pay ransom to terror organizations for release of a G7 kidnapped citizen. Last month Canadian John Ridsdel was beheaded by the militant Islamic group Abu Sayyaf in the Philippines and another Canadian, Robert Hall, is being held hostage by the same group.
Why would Canada’s PM push this issue now, and with Italy and Japan having a record of paying for the release of their nationals.. what are Trudeau’s prospects?
