A Brampton school bus driver is in some trouble for letting 3 kids get off his bus early.
A 6-year-old boy somehow convinced the driver to let him and two other children off before their scheduled stop on Wednesday.
The boy told the driver he wanted to get off the bus and walk so he could “stretch his legs and that he would be accompanied by his 8-year-old sister and her 10-year-old friend.
The Toronto Sun says the almost half a kilometre walk to their babysitter’s house involved crossing Woodvalley Drive to get to Poplar Plains Road.
They all arrived safely despite being unsupervised.
The 6-year-old’s father, Andrew Schaak, says the children were put in harm’s way, and that they were a target for area predators.
The head of Attridge Transportation told the paper the driver has been with the company for 3 years and has had no previous issues.
The 42 year old is facing a 3 day suspension and will have to undergo re-training.
When asked if the punishment was fair, Schaak said, “I think a three-day suspension is way too little, (but) I am glad they are doing the retraining.”
