Major League Baseball has now handed down suspensions after the base-brawl between the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers this past weekend.
The brawl ensued when Jays outfielder Jose Bautista aggressively slid into second base and was then attacked by Texas second baseman Rougned Odor. Bautista retaliated in defence and that’s when a number of players from both teams ran onto the field.
Odor will now serve an eight game suspension and Jays manager John Gibbons will get a three game suspension for coming out to the field after previously being ejected in that game. Also, Jays centre fielder Kevin Pillar will get a fine and there is a report that Jose Bautista will get a one game suspension.
The incident is believed to have been carried over from the American League Division series when the Jays managed to beat the Rangers highlighted by Bautista’s infamous bat-flip.
Both teams will not play each other for the rest of the 2016 MLB season.
