Fresh off a recent three-day business trip to Los Angeles, the Mayor is ready for the spotlight to shine on Toronto.
John Tory will make an announcement Thursday morning about the plan to boost film and TV production in the city.
The Toronto Film Office has developed some recommendations, meant to support the existing creative screen-based industries, which will be voted on at council’s next meeting.
While in the U-S, Tory was joined by nearly two-dozen industry delegates from Toronto, and he met with eleven studios, encouraging them to expand their operations in Toronto, which sports a $1.5B film and TV industry, and growing.
LA-based studios have several projects planned for Toronto this year alone; those projects are valued at more than $800M.
