A new Nanos Research poll, commissioned by the Canadian Association of Optometrists, found that 6 in 10 Canadians have had a vision problem at some point in their life.
39% of those affected have missed work, or have seen their performance impacted by poor vision.
22% have been hurt financially as a result of their vision affliction.
Many private businesses have dropped eye coverage from their benefits plan over the last few years. Back in 2004, shortly after they were voted into office, the Ontario Liberals delisted routine eye exams for adults under 65 due to the cost of equipment and the screening itself.
