A 24 year old Toronto man has been arrested and charged in connection with a double murder in Scarborough on Friday night.
26 year old Joseph Anzolona and 24 year old Cynthia Mullapudi (pictured) were shot to death as they sat in the back seat of an SUV, parked outside an LCBO in the area of Ellesmere Road and Victoria Park Avenue.
Two other occupants of the vehicle were uninjured in the attack, which saw the suspect open the back door and fire several shots.
Both victims were hit numerous times, and were without vital signs when paramedics arrived on scene.
They were transported to hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
On Sunday, May 1st, 24 year old Harris Nnane of Toronto was arrested in connection with the investigation.
He has since been charged with two counts of first degree murder.
Speaking on Monday, Staff Insp. Greg McLane said that violence may be gang related as Nnane is believed to be a gang member.
Both he and Anzolona were known to police, however Mullapudi was not.
He also thanked the public for help in the investigation, saying that it was their assistance that led to the “successful conclusion at such an early stage.”
