The cities aging streetcars will have to stay in operation for longer than expected after another delay was placed on their replacements.
The $1.2 billion contract that was inked between the TTC and Bombardier back in 2009, promised the city 204 new streetcars over a span of 5 years.
According to Bombardier’s President and CEO Alain Bellemare, the company does have a recovery plan in the works.
Bellemare did express his disappointment in the company’s lagging production schedule but assures swift action will be taken.
Of the 204, only 17 new streetcars have been delivered to date.
The Quebec based builder is expecting a full order delivery date by 2019.
