An early Tuesday morning incident in Markham has prompted York Region police to launch a sexual assault investigation.
A woman says she was attacked by an Uber driver, possibly in the 16th Avenue and Woodbine area, around 3:00 a.m.
Police say no arrest has been made and it isn’t known if both parties knew each other.
Uber Canada issued a statement saying they are co-operating with police.
Half of Toronto Uber passengers are women, while about 80% of the service’s Toronto-area drivers are men.
