Looks like pet owners will have a chance to pick up some discount items in the next few weeks as PJ’s Pets have announced the closing of 27 locations across Canada.
PJ’s Pets, Pets Unlimited, Petculture and Oliver & Pets are the brands that will face closures across several provinces such as Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and British Columbia.
Eleven stores in Ontario will be affected including the only Toronto location at 3291 Yonge Street, north of Lawrence.
The Bramalea City Centre and Pickering Town centre locations will also discontinue.
A Price Waterhouse study says the company has lost almost $17 million since 2013, likely a result of the decision to stop selling puppies in 2011.
The retailer which has been in business for almost 50 years, started up it’s first PJ’s Pets location in 1969.
