Ashley Dundas is furious after her nine-year-old son, Devin, was left on a handicap school bus Monday morning in Timmins.
Devin has a condition known as Phelan-McDermid Syndrome, which renders him speechless. He also has the mentality of a four-year-old.
He boarded the bus at 8:30am. Ecole Catholique St-Dominique called Ashley at 11:15am, asking if Devin was coming to school. She immediately contacted police.
Devin was eventually found safe, still sitting on the school bus hours after the initial pick-up.
The owner of the bus service has only stated that they are conducting an internal investigation.
Devin’s father, Robert Brousseau, wants the driver charged criminally. “If I had left my kid in a car in the Walmart parking lot for three hours, I would be facing criminal charges, he told the Timmins Daily Press’ Alan Hale here.
The couple have contacted a lawyer to pursue the matter in civil court.
