York Regional police has cancelled an AMBER ALERT in relation to a parental abduction in Aurora.
It was cancelled around 10:30 on Monday morning after police got a call from their counterparts in Pembroke.
That’s where four year old Julia Dela Cruz was found after the car she was in with her father was involved in a single-vehicle crash.
Police say the girl was responsive when they removed her from the vehicle.
Her father Mario Rodrigues was hurt in the crash but his injuries are unknown. The 35 year old was taken into custody in Pembroke.
Officers allege Rodrigues forced his way into his ex-wife’s home in Aurora around 4:30 a.m., on Monday morning and abducted the child.
An AMBER ALERT was issued more than 4 hours after the girl was reported missing as police did not believe the child was in danger.
Prior to the crash, the pair was last spotted in Aurora heading south in a 2008 Toyota Sienna minivan.
The Special Investigations Unit was later called in to investigate the crash.
