Andre Marin is suing the province for for wrongful dismissal.
In his claim the former Ontario ombudsman alleges that Premier Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals “orchestrated” his removal from public office without cause or notice.
He is suing for two years’ pay along with $3 million in damages.
The suit also names the ombudsman’s office, the legislature and the Attorney General’s ministry.
Marin served for two five-year terms until last year, with former federal taxpayers’ ombudsman Paul Dube replacing him this year.
The premier’s office is yet to comment.
