Durham Police are trying to identify the person responsible for posting a number of posters in Oshawa and Whitby falsely accusing a man of being a sex offender.
On March 14 officers received a report of harassment from a male victim who works in Oshawa.
the victim says posters with his picture and the official logo of the DRPS were posted at a business on Dundas Street East in Whitby and at the Campus Ice Centre in north Oshawa.
The poster also named the victim and falsely stated that he had been charged with possession of child pornography and child luring.
A letter containing a copy of the poster and a threatening message was alos delivered to the victim’s workplace.
Investigators are asking for help from the public in the investigation.
