Rob Ford’s family will cover the full bill for costs associated to his public visitation last week at City Hall.
Ford’s former Chief of Staff Dan Jacobs posted a statement from the Ford family to Twitter on Monday.
In it, the family says they “fully intend” to pay the city back even though the price tag was much higher than what they were initially told.
“We have always fully intended to reimburse the city the full costs related to Rob’s funeral and memorial. We were initially told that this amount would be minimal, under $1,000, which is well under what we are now told the final tally is. We still full intend to reimburse the City and are now simply waiting to be given a strict accounting of all the costs incurred.”
The statement also included a thank you to the people of Toronto for their support and a thank you to City staff for helping put together the memorial for Rob.
