Marie Henein, the lawyer who represented Jian Ghomeshi at his high profile sex assault case says she doesn’t agree with some women who claim she betrayed them and doesn’t feel the need to justify herself.
Ghomeshi’s lawyer spoke publicly for the first time since her client was exonerated on four counts of sexual assault and one count of choking to overcome resistance she would not go into the details of the trial within the 30 day appeals period.
Jian Ghomeshi’s lawyer said she was doing her job in representing the former CBC radio star and she told the CBC’s The National on Tuesday night that “female judges are not traitors when they acquit others in sexual assault cases or supporters of women when they convict.”
Henein also said “it was the right result and rejected accusations that she betrayed women by defending Ghomeshi.”
Ghomeshi had pleaded not guilty to all the charges, connected to alleged assaults against three women back in 2002 and 2003.
