An EgyptAir plane hijacking situation is over and the hijacker has been taken into police custody.
The plane was taken over on Tuesday while en route from Alexandria to Cairo.
The plane was forced to land at an airport in Larnaca by a man who claimed to be wearing a suicide belt.
Fifty-six passengers were let off the plane in Lanarca but the flight crew and three foreigners were kept on board for several more hours.
Everyone appears to have gotten off the plane safely.
The matter doesn’t appear to be terrorism related. The hijacker may have been motivated by a personal matter involving his ex-wife.
Cypriot media is reporting the hijacker’s ex lives in Cyprus and that when the plane landed, he handed a four page letter to officials demanding they deliver it to her.
