A new Mainstreet/Postmedia poll shows that 53% of 2,017 Toronto residents polled disapproved of the Jian Ghomeshi verdict announced Thursday.
The former CBC radio star was acquitted of four counts of sexual assault and one of overcoming resistance by choking.
Justice William Horkins felt, based on evidence and testimony, that there was reason to doubt the arguments put forth by the complaints.
Nearly half of the men polled disagreed with the result, while 57% of women felt the same.
Almost 40% of those people questioned lost respect for the justice system following the outcome of the trial.
