OPP officers charged a shocking number of impaired drivers on the road over Easter Weekend.
Sgt. Kerry Schmidt revealed to AM640 that nine drivers were arrested for drunk driving during a 48-hour period, with a majority of these arrests occurring in the GTA.
The OPP also went on a seatbelt enforcement blitz over the weekend, which was inspired by a recent study into seatbelt use and fatal collisions.
Schmidt remarked that over the last five years, 332 people died in Ontario because they were not wearing a seatbelt during a collision.
261 of those people who died were men, while 71 were women.
Schmidt believes that male motorists and passengers can learn a lesson or two from their female counterparts.
Why are men more likely to go without a seatbelt?
