City administrators in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan are reviewing a proposed anti-bullying bylaw aimed at anyone over the age of 12. The original legislation would give officials the ability to fine people up to $2500 for engaging in “taunting, tormenting, name calling, ridiculing, insulting, mocking and directing slurs towards another person.”
Most councilors agreed that that wording was too broad, but can any law curb bullying, or does the onus rest on parents to tell their kids not to be bullies, and educate children on how to deal with bullying?
