More than one hundred thousand people were without power last night across most of South Western Ontario.
Hydro One has stated several lines failed due to fallen tree branches and an increasing build up of ice due to the large amounts of freezing rain.
Many parts of the province were not largely affected by the outages however several areas were hit hard.
More than 12 thousand residents in Barrie were left without power along with more than 11 thousand people in the Owen Sound and Orangeville areas.
No outages were reported within the city however Hydro One has said that over 40 thousand customers are expected to remain in the dark for most of the night as well as into the morning.
