Starting next week, those involved in collisions with a combined damage of under $2000 will no longer need to notify a collision reporting center or police.
However, police will respond if an injured person requires transport to hospital or there is evidence of criminality.
This decision comes after the overwhelming rise of collisions in the city – in 2015, there were 64,000 crashes reported, which is 6,000 more than 2 years earlier. Of those, approximately 70% are minor.
