Tempers flared late Monday night when police clashed with Black Lives Matter protesters outside of police headquarters on College Street.
Citing safety concerns, police moved in to remove tents and a bonfire, angering the protesters in the process.
The protesters say they want the officer involved in the shooting death of Andrew Loku last summer, to be identified; that’s despite the SIU’s decision to clear him, and the other officers involved, of wrongdoing.
They’re also calling for a reversal on the decision to trim Afrofest to just one day.
City officials say the decision was made based on noise complaints.
