Two 12-year-old girls from Trail, B.C. assumed a middle-aged man was a pervert taking pictures of them at a fast-food restaurant when he really just forgot his glasses at home and was struggling to read his phone. Instead of contacting police or confronting the man, the girls took photos of the man and posted them on Facebook to warn people of this “creep”. He then became subject to an Internet pitchfork party and the post became a virtual witch hunt for a pedofile.
Police investigated and found that the man was completely innocent. However, the man and his family are “upset and scared”, rightfully so, because his name and image have been ruined after all the venomous and hateful assumptions made by the public. The girls did not even apologize but have apparently learned a big lesson.
How will he get his name back? Should the girls face consequences? What would you do if they were your daughters?
