A spate of jewelry thefts has resulted in an arrest and charges, and police believe more charges are possible.
On the afternoon of Friday March 4, police were called out after a woman allegedly used distraction techniques to steal jewelry from unsuspecting victims.
Police say a female driver would stop to ask for help, targeting older, and disabled people, and if they engaged in conversation she would offer to give them the jewelry she had on her.
It’s further alleged she would remove the jewelry while putting the other pieces on.
Miheala Miclescu, of Toronto, was arrested. The 35 year old was charged with 14 counts of theft under $5, 000.
Police say there could be some other victims, who are encouraged to come forward.
