South Carolina high school teacher Leigh Anne Arthur says she was forced to resign after students found a nude photo on her smartphone.
Arthur claims that her phone was grabbed when she left it unattended on her desk. The phone has been used by students in the past for class projects.
The phone was passed around by a number of students before a nude photo was discovered, and shared numerous times. Arthur said she had snapped the photo for her husband for Valentine’s Day.
The school eventually learned about what happened after color copies of the photo were placed in her mailbox. Officials spoke with Arthur, and she shared responsibility for the incident because of the relaxed policy she observed around her phone.
Union County Schools superintendent David Eubanks said Arthur was told she could either resign or face a disciplinary process. He claims she chose to resign.
However, Arthur says she was forced to resign.
In an interview here with CBS, she said that “the whole process of my privacy being invaded is being ignored.”
