Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit now a part of fatal shooting on Friday night.
Toronto Police officers shot dead a 30-year-old man during a confrontation on Bayview Avenue south of Steeles.
It happened just after 10:00p.m. when officers came into contact with the male out front of a residence.
During an altercation, officers discharged their weapons, striking the man, who was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
As with most SIU investigations, little details are revealed by investigators.
They have confirmed, three officers are at the center of the investigation and nine other officers are witnesses.
The province’s Special Investigations Unit is an agency that investigates reports involving police where death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault have taken place.
