GO Transit and the Union Pearson Express have made changes to their schedules for Wednesday morning, due to a major winter storm sweeping through the region.
The UP Express will run every 30 minutes instead of every 15 minutes beginning at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, GO Transit says it will be cancelling most express train trips, with the 7:53 a.m. express train from Oshawa to Union Station the only express trip that will run as scheduled in the morning.
The company saying in a statement that this move will allow them to focus on trips that do not require trains to switch from one set of tracks to another, ”which will in turn reduce the likelihood of switch problems due to snow and ice build-up” and ”allow as many customers as possible to get on our trains and get where they need to be.”
Further details and updates can be found on the GO Transit’s service updates page and GO transit is encouraging customers to check the page before setting out on a journey.
A winter storm warning is in effect for the city, with as much as 25 centimetres of snow expected to fall overnight on Tuesday.
