All lanes of the QEW westbound, west of Hurontario Street have now reopened to traffic following an earlier collision.
The collision, which involved a tractor trailer, happened at around 3.p.m. this afternoon and led to the immediate closure of all westbound lanes for two hours.
Pictures tweeted from the scene by OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt show the tractor trailer jackknifed across the highway and it’s thought a resultant oil spill has hampered efforts to reopen the road fully.
The left lane was the first to reopen shortly after 5.p.m, with the OPP confirming shortly after 5.30.p.m that the road had fully reopened.
The driver of the truck was transported to hospital with injuries which have been described as serious but non life threatening.
