A prolific bank robber tied to 21 bank robberies, 15 in the Greater Toronto Area, appeared in a Newmarket court on Sunday.
53-year-old Jeffrey Shuman known as the “Vaulter Bandit” was nabbed by Geneva police in September on an international warrant and extradited to Canada. He arrived at Pearson on Saturday.
The French-American is being held in custody and set to face charges, March 11th. More details of the arrest and pending court case will be revealed in a news conference on Tuesday (March 1st) at 11:00a.m. by York Regional Police.
Authorities believe Shuman’s first strike was in York Region in 2010, in later months he hit banks in Mississauga, Hamilton, & Vaughan.
