York Police say a woman has been arrested for driving impaired after a crash in Newmarket.
Police say after the crash, it was discovered the 28 year old woman left her 7 year old child at home alone.
The crash happened in the intersection of Yonge Street and Kingston Road at around 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
The woman failed a breath test and while talking to the woman police learned that the driver had a young daughter that may have been left at home alone.
At about 9:30 p.m., officers attended the Newmarket home and located her seven-year-old daughter at home alone.
The father was called and picked up his daughter and the Children’s Aid Society was also notified.
The 28 year old woman is charged with impaired driving, driving over 80, obstructing police, and leaving a child unattended.
The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the child involved.
