A random mass shooting in Kalamazoo Michigan, 225 Kilometres west of Detroit, has left six dead according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
A 14-year old girl who originally had been pronounced dead by medical officials is now reported to just be in serious condition.
It was a series of shootings by a 45 year old, who drove around the city, shooting people at three locations.
Jason Brian Dalton has been identified as the suspect. Dalton has no prior criminal history according to police in Kalamazoo.
The shooter began the spree around 6:00 pm Saturday outside an apartment complex where he shot a woman multiple times. Then about four hours later, 15 miles away, a father and son were fatally gunned down at a car dealership.
Fifteen minutes after that, five including the 14-year-old victim were shot in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel restaurant.
Michigan State Police Lieutenant Dale Hinz says the suspect surrendered to police without a fight. Questioning of the accused by investigators has begun.
“We really don’t know much about this individual” said Michigan State Police Lieutenant Dale Hinz
“We’re hoping in our discussions with him, determine what a motive might be.”
