The SIU have invoked their mandate after a shooting between Toronto Police and one man ended in a hospital visit.
Paramedics were called to the corner of Queensway and Kipling Avenue to find a man in a mask and armed allegedly attempting to rob a bank.
There was an altercation and he received serious gunshot wounds and is now at the hospital in serious condition. Two other women were both believed to be accomplices at the time.
The SIU only get involved when a member of the public is injured by police or there are allegations of sexual assault.
