Over 70% of Canadians are against taking in more than 25,000 refugees, according to a poll by the Angus Reid Institute. However, Immigration Minister John McCallum explains that Canada will expect to have brought in 35,000-50,000 refugees by the end of the year.
The liberal government will also be providing refugees with blanket healthcare coverage for all, and in 2017 the coverage will be given to them before even coming to Canada (ex. vaccinations). The idea here is that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Do you believe this is a good initiative on the part of the liberal government? Is it good policy?
