It was an unusual trip for about 20 GO Bus passengers last night, when the vehicle was pulled over by police.
The bus, which was making its way from Hamilton to Union Station in Toronto, was stopped at around 11.p.m on the Gardiner Expressway near Highway 427.
According to witnesses, the vehicle was surrounded by about eight cruisers, with officers from Toronto, Hamilton, Durham and the OPP on scene.
The bus was stopped for about 30 minutes and passengers say that after about 5 minutes, a man who was seated at the rear of the bus, stood up and walked to the front where he lit a cigarette.
Police boarded the bus a short time later and the same man was placed under arrest without incident.
The 53 year old was wanted on a warrant for an assault and has also been flagged as a person of interest in an unnamed homicide.
No passengers suffered any injuries during the stoppage and the bus was able to continue it’s journey.
