The emergency department at St. Michael’s hospital remained closed on Wednesday.
It’s been off limits since Tuesday morning when a water pipe burst on the 2nd floor.
Water ended up in the ER, soaking diagnostic and electrical equipment.
Later in the evening, the Hospital tweeted that its emergency department would be accepting ambulances transporting trauma and critically ill patients.
However walk-in patients are being told to go to other hospitals and ambulances are being diverted.
Emerge is not able to accept walk-in patients for the foreseeable future. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience to patients.
