Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was greeted by a partisan crowd in Whitby Tuesday night as he appeared at a rally for the Liberal candidate in this week’s Ontario byelection.
Trudeau appeared at a rally with Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, and told the crowd his government will support Ontario on a number of issues, including pension reform and infrastructure.
“Let me tell you something, friends… After a decade of indifference and even neglect, Ontario now has an ambitious and dedicated partner in Ottawa,” said Trudeau.
The Liberals and candidate Elizabeth Roy hope to sweep the Whitby-Oshawa riding from the Tories in Thursday’s byelection.
The seat was vacated when Progressive Conservative Christine Elliott resigned after losing her party’s leadership race to Patrick Brown.
