The president of Beck Taxi is asking her drivers not to take part in a protest against Uber planned for Friday.
Gail Beck-Souter told the John Oakley show protesting during the NBA All-Star Game in Toronto will give Uber exactly what they want.
“The last thing we should be doing is interfering with the city, with the NBA games and inconveniencing our loyal customers. We want to bring customers into cabs, not chase them
Even though Beck-Souter doesn’t want drivers to take part in the protest, she says she understands their frustrations.
“The drivers are exasperated by this lengthy wait for justice. I hope that with perhaps the onset of an injunction or onset of new regulations coming that that will give some relief to drivers.”
Beck-Souter insists there is a better way for cabbies to accomplish their goals.
She thinks they should continue to fight at City Hall, Queen’s Park and go the legal route.
