Gary Bettman will be staying on as NHL Commissioner for a little longer.
The 63 year old executive inked a seven year extension today that will keep him as the league’s top boss until 2022.
Bettman took on his role as commissioner back in 1993. With this extension, he will have been in command of the NHL for 30 years which would equal the same tenure of former NBA boss and mentor of Bettman, David Stern.
It’s interesting to note that since Bettman took over, no Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup.
