The third ground search for a missing Markham woman brought closure for a distressed family.
York Region police confirmed that a body found in a frozen pond near Highway 48, is that of 25-year-old Taneesha Brown.
Police found a body late Saturday morning while conducting another ground search since Brown’s disappearance on January 12th.
Police initially could not confirm the victim’s identity, but clothing that matched the description of the missing woman, tipped them off.
Later, Saturday evening, Brown’s family confirmed the body was that of the 25 year old.
Brown, last seen January 12th when she left a relative’s home at about 10:45 p.m., said she told family members she was going outside for fresh air.
York Regional confirm an autopsy will be performed to establish cause of death, but added that this is likely not a suspicious incident.
