York Regional police have now confirmed they have found a body while continuing their ground search for missing 25 year old Taneesha Brown, this morning.
Ten days have gone by since Brown was last seen in the area of McCowan Road and Castlemore Avenue. Police can’t confirm the body is Taneesha but her mother, who is on the scene has told reporters it is.
York Regional Police Search and Rescue Unit have already been through three operations in the search with their focus on the areas of high hazard.
Authorities asking residents around the area where Taneesha was last seen to check your backyards, sheds and out buildings for any clues. Markham businesses are also urged to download and print a copy of the missing person poster and post it on doors or areas of high visibility. Members of the public can also assist police efforts by printing off and handing out the missing person poster in their neighborhoods.
Brown left a relatives residence on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, around 10:45 p.m., after telling family members she was going outside for some fresh air.
She was seen on video surveillance a short time later near Bur Oak Secondary School, walking southbound. She has not been seen since.
Taneesha Brown is described as
5’5″, 122 lbs.
Black, shoulder-length hair with pink highlights
Last seen wearing a traditional Muslim outfit consisting of a white, knee-length dashiki, with white pants underneath and a white hijab on her head
